The December 2016 issue of SPARKS, newsletter of the Tri-State Amateur Radio Society, is now available.
It's dues time again.
A new year is almost upon us. If you haven't yet paid dues for 2017, it's time. We have a new Treasurer starting this year. Be kind to him and mail in your dues. Or make out a separate check for dues and put it in an envelope with your completed membership form and turn it in at the January meeting. Be sure you include your email address and name/call sign at least on the form. The membership form is the ONLY sure way we can be sure to get your correct email
address in the books AND submit any changes so that you will receive your copy of SPARKS.
December Meeting Program
The TARS December 8th meeting, 7:00 pm at the Red Cross, program will be a QLF contest and year end celebration.
Everyone is invited to bring a desert or snack for a pitch in celebration while watching the QLF contest.
TARS will provide drinks, plates and tableware.
Ideas might include cookies, brownies, cheeseball, snack mix or anything you would like to share.
Now you are probably asking yourself, self what does QLF mean?
From Q signal list in the Old Timers Handbook
QLF - I am sending with my left foot.
QLF? - Are you sending with your left foot?
Are you starting to get the idea? QLF is a derogatory word kind of like LID, but we are going to have a little fun with it.
Yes that’s right YOU will be sending CW with your left foot.
