DX Report 12/14/12
« on: December 14, 2012, 03:10:39 PM »
XU1A continues to be active on twenty cw, the frequency varies some on twenty meters, best to check DX scape for this one, head beam North, seems to be best peak. Signal rides about 579 for the most part and sometimes in the noise. However, Cambodia is on the air, so grab this one while you can.

Another good one for this time of the year is OH9SCL, this is Santa Claus land in Finland. For years this station appears in December and Finland claims to be the home of Santa Claus due to one small town just in side the Arctic Circle.

HO HO HO. See information below.

Santas own amateur radio station OH9SCL has been busy since December 1986, operating in Finnish Lappland in the arctic circle. The North of the country is well-known as Santa Claus Land. The most activity takes place during December, operated by local radioamateurs helped with visitor operators. The picture with the map shows the original QSL-card from 1986.

In 2012 the little helpers of the the Big Guy will open the boutique in Muonio at 8 - 12 December!!! This arctic village is located about 150km north of the Arctic Circle line. The operating place is Harriniva in the grid KP17tw.
