DX Report 1/20/14

Lots of good ones on the bands in the last few hours. Let's take a look!

BG2AUE 7.020 1230Z this station is quite active yet no qsl has been received, card request was sent over two months ago and nothing has appeared. We will give it more time.

FK8RO 7.028 1100Z good signal in my location.

SU1HZ new one surfacing from Egypt check 7.003 0930Z. Station is active on various bands.

FJ/N9SW 14.022 1340Z good signal in the states. Same scenario with all portable, or suitcase operations. Hopefully, they will indeed verify they were on the island with the league for DXCC credit.

9M2TU 21.001 0030Z. new activity.

ZS8C I worked this one finally on 15 meters yesterday morning 1330Z 21, 360 up five. This one is Prince Edward and Marion Island, a separate and rare entity. I have been looking for this one on 15 and copied the station a good 5X5. The band was pretty poor, but I finally found the station with some degree of copyable signal strength beaming about 135 degrees from my location in Kentucky.

I had worked and confirmed this one on 20 ssb and CW a few years ago,but it has never been heard on other bands until now. ZS8C stays around 21.360 or 21.365 and listens up five to ten, maybe 15 khz. Yesterday morning he was on 21, 365 and listening up 5 to ten, just depends on what channels are clear. If you have copy, try and work him, QRZ.com says he will qsl all contacts and the mail goes via South Africa address.

Grab it if you have the chance since activity is sparse.

Still the crew is traveling to Amsterdam Island and this one may be up and running soon, best guess they may hit the air sometime this weekend, but it does take time to set up and get the rigs running. I am looking for them on 15 and ten, but who knows at this time?   We hope for good propagation, but who knows?
