The 9u4U operation was running last night on 40 meters and judging by the operation this was the real operation, pretty nice signal on 7.003, 0300z up 2. Very huge pile up from all over the country. We shall indeed see if this band and operation are legit.
The only reason this station was thought to be a Pirate was the slow, sluggish and erratic operating they were doing on 40. In fact one station in Africa close by Burundi reported hearing the 9U4U station and the beam heading was not the right direction for Burundi. Station reporting this has large antenna system for 40 meters and located in South Africa. However, it does appear now that the expedition is up and running on 40 meters with good cw ops, it should complete around the end of this month. Grab it while you can.
