Two notable stations today.

D3AA, this is an operation from Angola, I copied this station for about and hour, or longer on forty meters 7004.6 from 2000z until about 2100 z. However, he was calling Asia and Pacific Ocean. Signal was about 559 to 569. First heard while still daylight, amazing, but signal got slightly stronger as darkness came, but then he went qrt with out a single North America contact.

This would be a good catch on 40, but he has to listen for stateside stations.

There are also noted TA3D and his frequency varies on the forty meter band, good signal, 7.005 and 7007 as early as 0000z.

There has been a rumor and one spot of a station operating from Iraq, this is a pirate operation, last operation of a legal one I worked was quite a few years ago in the form of YI1BGD in Bagdad. Any other station is considered a pirate. However, take your chances on others and consult qrz if you hear a any station using a YI1 call. One such posting informs us that the station in question has not been on the air and is unlikely it will be for some time.
