DX Reports / DX Report 6/18/18
« Last post by k4lrx on June 17, 2018, 02:24:11 PM »
Looks like the only thing stirring over the weekend was the AA or All Asia contest, very few stations heard a few scattered Japanese stations, one Guam station and that seemed to be the activity for the contest. I did not participate in it since I felt it would not gain much from my perspective. The propagation just was not there, lower bands were horrid, this afternoon I am looking at a span of +25 and -25KHz and see one signal. Nothing much at all making it, a few Russian stations earlier, but nothing else heard, or worked.

Two note worthy stations on this morning for brief times. HL50IARU 14.030 1220Z and HS50IARU 14.015 1230Z. That is about it, nothing much else making it. Apparently the 6O operation never got going, did not have much faith in that one at all. Conditions continue to be terrible, hope something happens soon.

I am scanning the twenty meter band as of 1830Z this afternoon and hear only one signal, that is it. On the dx cluster is not much posted, earlier this morning we saw XV1X posted one time, then faded. Only other action are those stateside stations posting each other on the dx cluster and self spotters.

Lower bands are also very bad, few signals on 40 meters as well, looks like it may be a long summer.

I would like to list a whole lot of dx stations heard, or worked on the bands, but if you have tuned across them lately you will find they are pretty dead. I had hoped for some announced action from 6O, but so far not a peep from that operation. I just did not think it would get off the ground due to several factors involved. High static crashes on the lower bands and they are also not showing much propagation makes ham radio dx contacts at a minimum.

As of lately, in the early hours of the morning and I am saying 1200Z to around 1500Z a few stronger stations from Japan have been heard, or worked. Also, during some evenings stations from New Zealand are coming in very well, Usually around 0300Z, or later this will last about an hour, maybe two and that is it for the day. Not much else, there has been some scattered DX such as A41 on the air, I had seen some complaints about one station A41NN that works a lot of stations, but never confirms the contacts.

Summer does not look promising so be good time to do some antenna work, replace aging wire antenna, or add new ones. We are planning to replace our six meter beam since some trouble developed with it. Last time it was down the elements are very brittle due to age, so time for a replacement. I am still searching for that last state on six and it is KH6, so maybe I might get lucky. Not giving up, but who knows what will happen in the next few months?

Only station making it early this morning was 4U1A, 14.010 1025Z. This station is located in Vienna, Austria and is a contest station for the most part. It does count as Austria, but not a separate entity such as 4U1UN and 4U1ITU. There has been limited activity from 5R8, but little signal is noted.

On other mentions, we have heard nothing, or have not seen anything yet for 6 Oscar Zero Xray. We really do not expect much of an operation, since the word was the op was using 100 watts and a dipole. Operation was to have been underway yesterday, but so far nothing, Stay tuned.

Looks like the only action came in the form of an usual prefix, namely E20. This is a special event prefix for Thailand.

Station made one contact then vanished, only contact was CW, about 2300Z and 14.018..  There are a few early morning contacts and they are running cw at 579 for the most part.
