DX Report 10/18/12
« on: October 18, 2012, 06:42:43 AM »
Some notable improvement in the bands in the last twenty four hours.. There is a short expedition going on from Market Reef in the form of OJ0R. Station is operating from a tall light house and the signal is good in the states. So far, mostly cw but an occasional SSB surfaces. If you are in need of this one, check of course DX Scape for all details. This station was worked on twenty in the last twenty four hours.

Apparently, the Russians have issued a new prefix for those just beginning in ham radio. The prefix is RI1 that is Radio India one, and I have not heard this surface before. The R prefix in Russia has long been issued to those who hold the entry class license, it is similar to a U.S, general class.

On twenty cw in the last twenty four hours two stations were worked with the calls RI1FJ and RI1ANF with very good signals into Kentucky. Both were worked one on 14,009 and the other 14,025. Again check the spotting network for all details and frequencies.

Lastly, a big signal from Morocco in the form of CN8SCJ very big signal noted on twenty around 14,025, all of these stations were worked during the evening hours and that was after 8PM local time.

Apparently, the bands hit a minor peak after several weeks of really poor conditions.... Stay tuned.
