Did work 9U4U this afternoon on twenty meters, rather easy and this qso was on ssb. Station was operating on !4.183 and QSX 14.235. Not sure why this odd split. Normally, most expeditions use 14.195 and listen from 14. 200 to about 14.210 or perhaps a little wider.
In any event 9U4U was worked on twenty meter ssb and not needed on that band. On SSB the op was picking out callers pretty rapidly, however the night before on 40 meters the signal was pretty weak and the op slow in returning to callers.
On 14.235 some one was placing a carrier with a buzz on it in an effort to block the channel, I suspect some irate slow scanners since that area on twenty is normally used for slow scan. Made little difference, those who called 9U4U got a contact despite the intentional qrm.
We shall see how it goes later on tonight on 40 if indeed band conditions produce a signal above a whisper.
Burundi is not on the air that often, so if you get a chance at this station, by all means work them. It may be years before you hear it on again.
